SAN JOSE, Calif. – Earthquakes II defeated Whitecaps FC 2 3-1 on Monday night at PayPal Park. The result keeps Quakes II’s playoff dreams alive as they stay six points outside of the top four in the Western Conference with now two games remaining in the regular season.

Quakes II opened the scoring through Rodolfo Castro Jr. via free kick for his eleventh goal of the season. Whitecaps FC 2 tied the game in the final moments of the first half. Earthquakes II retook the lead in the second half with goals from Max Arfsten in the 60th minute and Joaquin Eisenberg in the 90th minute.

Earthquakes II will next host Real Monarchs on Friday, Sept. 9. Originally scheduled to be played at PayPal Park, the match will now take place at Negoesco Stadium on the campus of the University of San Francisco. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. and will be livestreamed on MLSNEXTPro.com.
