Evergreen Community members - 2018 vs. Timbers

The San Jose Earthquakes celebrated the Evergreen neighborhood as part of the 2018 Neighborhood Night Series, presented by Wells Fargo, at the match on May 5 against the Portland Timbers.

As part of the celebrations, the Quakes recognized three members of the Evergreen neighborhood in San Jose for their service to their community: Stacy Le, Brigitte Parman and Sukhdev Singh Bainiwal. Councilwoman Sylvia Arenas of San Jose District 8 presented the honorees at the match.

Le is the council assistant for San Jose District 8, and played a key role in organizing activities in the Evergreen neighborhood ahead of the match, including the Lake Cunningham Bike Park Opening, Evergreen Community Center Neighbor Night and Quakes Free Play day clinic, presented by VHP. Quakes midfielder Jackson Yueill attended the Free Play day at Welch Park, and played with kids aged 5-11.

Parman is from The Evergreen Times, the premier print newspaper of the Evergreen and Silvercreek Valley area. With a distribution of 18,000, The Evergreen Times has served the Silvercreek Valley since 1982. Parman serves as a senior advertising executive for the publication.

Singh Bainiwal is the Director of Sikh Gurdwara, a Sikh place of worship in the Evergreen area. Singh Bainiwal led the Evergreen Sikh community in organizing Sikh Night, which coincided with the Evergreen Neighborhood Night.

The Neighborhood Night series recognizes and celebrates the micro communities that make up San Jose. The next neighborhood recognized in the series is Los Gatos on Saturday, May 19 against D.C. United.
