The San Jose Earthquakes return home Wednesday night to face Austin FC. Kickoff from PayPal Park is set for 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast globally via Apple TV (English/Spanish), as well as local radio on KSFO 810 AM (English) and La Kaliente 1370 AM (Spanish).

The Black and Blue are off to their best start in club history at 7-1-0 after a dominant road win over Los Angeles Football Club on Matchday 8 that made plenty of new believers. It was just their second regular-season victory at BMO Stadium as San Jose improved to 4-0-0 away from home for the first time in club history. The Quakes also became only the second MLS team in the post-shootout era to start perfect after four league matches. San Jose now sits atop the Western Conference and the Supporters’ Shield standings, level on 21 points with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, with only goal differential separating the two.

San Jose continues to show its widespread attacking effort, adding another name to its list of goalscorers this season as Designated Player Timo Werner scored the first goal of his MLS career. The milestone came alongside one for Ousseni Bouda, who recorded the first brace of his career by notching the opening and closing goals against LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who had yet to concede in 593 minutes entering Sunday’s match.

Niko Tsakiris stayed hot in a true breakout campaign, delivering his fifth goal contribution in the last three league matches. The 20-year-old Homegrown midfielder pulled the strings once again with four key passes, pushing his league-leading total to 32. He also paces MLS in corner kicks taken (44) and crosses (20), while sitting tied for third in assists with five, firmly establishing himself as the engine behind the Quakes’ offensive surge.

The defensive stronghold keeps holding firm, with San Jose conceding just its third goal of 2026 through eight matches. Daniel continues to boast a goals-against average of 0.38 on the season after making yet another highlight-reel save, this time on a powerful volley from LAFC superstar Son Heung-Min that was certainly headed for the back of the net but was parried away by the Brazilian shot-stopper.

The last time San Jose faced Austin, they delivered a Decision Day thriller, earning a 2-1 win behind a Niko Tsakiris free kick and the first MLS goal of his career. However, the Quakes narrowly missed the 2025 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs that night, finishing ninth in the West on tiebreakers despite being level on points with Real Salt Lake (41).

Austin FC enters the match off its fourth draw of the season, a high-scoring affair with Toronto FC that featured goals from Jon Bell, Facundo Torres and Christian Ramírez. Verde signed Ramírez in February, adding a proven MLS veteran with experience at Minnesota United FC, LAFC and Houston Dynamo FC. He’s already hit the ground running, scoring in his debut last month against D.C. United.

San Jose returns to PayPal Park looking to build on their historic run in front of their home crowd and keep pace in both the Western Conference and Supporters’ Shield races. Riding strong form on both ends of the pitch, the Quakes aim to keep their win streak going against an Austin side still searching for consistency early in the season.
