SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes forward Cristian Espinoza has been named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Matchday, formerly known as Team of the Week, for Matchday 10. Espinoza helped San Jose earn a point on the road in a 2-2 draw with Austin FC on Saturday at Q2 Stadium.
After a 1-1 score at halftime, the Quakes scored their second goal through a header from Jeremy Ebobisse in the 75th minute. Espinoza sent a cross that connected with Ebobisse in the air (highlight), marking his third assist of the season. He has now tallied 47 assists in his MLS career, tying him with Ronald Cerritos for second most assists in Quakes history.
The MLS Team of the Matchday selection is Espinoza’s third of the season (Matchday 3, 6, and 10) and tenth since joining the Earthquakes in January 2019.
