SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Quakes Foundation and The PG&E Corporation Foundation (PG&E Foundation), have committed to donate a total of $200,000 for 51,000 meals to help fight food insecurity in 2025.
The Quakes Foundation and The PG&E Foundation will work with local organizations in the Greater Bay Area—including Martha’s Kitchen and Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz—to distribute the meals.
“We couldn't be more appreciative of the PG&E Foundation for stepping up to partner with us,” said Robert Davis, Vice President of Community Relations for the San Jose Earthquakes. “As we engage in communities where the nexus of a love of soccer and need meet, this is a great way for us to deepen our ability to partner and support these communities as we leverage soccer to help make a difference.”
“The PG&E Foundation is committed to the wellbeing of our local communities. That’s why we are thrilled to continue our ongoing partnership with the Quakes Foundation to make a meaningful impact in reducing food insecurity in the South Bay, Central Coast and Central Valley,” said Stephanie Isaacson, Executive Director, The PG&E Corporation Foundation.
The PG&E Foundation’s charitable donation comes from PG&E shareholders, not PG&E Customers.
This year, the partnership will be working with six communities here in NorCal to assist with food insecurity: East San Jose, Salinas/Greenfield, Watsonville/Pajaro, East Palo Alto, Gilroy and Merced/Central Valley.
This initiative stems from the Earthquakes’ Pledge 74 campaign, an organization-wide program that aims to combat food insecurity concerns in the Bay Area. Pledge 74 was named after the team’s founding in 1974 and carries with it a legacy of nearly 50 years of community service.
