QUAKES NOTES: Storylines leading into May 4th match against Cincinnati

TEAM SPECIFIC

  • San Jose is currently in the midst of a three-match unbeaten streak (1-0-2). The last time the Quakes earned 5+ points during a three-match unbeaten streak was in their final three contests of the 2017 regular season (2-0-1).
  • The Quakes defeated SKC 4-1 (4/20), tied SEA 2-2 (4/24) and tied FCD 0-0 (4/27). The last time the Quakes went undefeated in three matches that took place in the span of eight days was in 2015 when they won three matches from August 14-22 (vs. COL 1-0, at SKC 5-0, at DC 2-0).
  • San Jose is currently tied for the third longest active unbeaten streak in Major League Soccer (LA – 7; NYC – 5; FCD – 3).

PLAYER SPECIFIC

  • Shea Salinas scored his third and fourth goals of the season and 16th and 17th of his MLS career on Wednesday in Seattle, setting a new single-season career-high in goals.
  • Last Wednesday marked the first multi-goal game of Salinas’ MLS career, which has spanned to 291 appearances.
  • Salinas has scored twice as many goals through seven appearances in 2019 (4) as he did across 83 appearances from 2016-18 (2).
  • Salinas scored in back-to-back matches (vs. SKC 4/20; at SEA 4/24) for the second time in his career and first time since August of 2015. His four goals in April also marks the first time that he has tallied more than two goals in a single calendar month.
  • Paul Marie made his first MLS start on Wednesday in Seattle.
  • Magnus Eriksson was credited with the assist on Salinas’ first goal in Seattle. It marked his third of the season, equaling last season’s total, and sixth of his MLS career.
  • Cristian Espinoza was credited with the assist on Salinas’ second goal in Seattle. It marked his second of the season and his MLS career.
