SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH MIKAEL STAHRE
On the match:

“I think it was a good game. It was a game with a lot of intensity and passion. I think we stood up in a good way and we deserved at least a tie this evening.”

On areas for improvement:

“I think we need to improve all parts actually, but tonight we were not dangerous enough in the last third of the field. I think we handled the buildup well, and did the defensive part quite well too tonight, but we were not dangerous enough in the last 30 yards of the field.”

On Chris Wondolowski returning to the starting XI:

“We used a more direct approach tonight, with more of a 4-4-2 formation with wider wingers and two strikers. I think he did really well tonight.”

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES DEFENDER JIMMY OCKFORD
On overall thoughts from the match:

“We did very well, but it is unfortunate that they had the opportunity on goal and made the most of it. It was a great shot. There was nothing [Andrew] Tarbell could really do about it.”

On moving on from the result:

“We could have done a little more going forward, but we had some chances. Right now we need to stick to our system and stay positive. I think good things can happen. There are plenty of games left in the season to turn things around, we have just to get three points next week in Chicago.”

On his performance in the match:

“I thought I did pretty well, but with Harold [Cummings] next to me it makes it much easier. I think we work well together, and as a back four we were compact the majority of the time. As a four we were very strong back there and that makes individual performances much easier.”

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES FORWARD CHRIS WONDOLOWSKI

On the team’s performance:

I thought were some bright moments. We defended well at times, but we have a tendency to shoot ourselves in the foot a bit and give up a goal. That definitely cost us.”

On being part of the starting XI:

“I wish it was better and I could have created some chances in the offensive third. It was a little bit frustrating there, but I enjoyed being back there.”

On the rivalry with LA:

“They’re a good team and it is always a fun rivalry. I wish it came out better.”
