SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Earthquakes honored 11 members of the club’s family with Devotion Scarves—an honor bestowed upon only the most devoted Quakes fans, staff, alumni or community members. The Quakes presented Devotion Scarves for the first time in 2015, and they are now awarded annually at the end of the regular season. The 11 recipients of a 2026 Devotion Scarf are included below with descriptions of their commitments to the club.

Montse Alvarado & Carlos Romero – Since 2015, Montse and Carlos, as well as their children, have found a home in Section 101 with the Latino Supporters’ Group Epicentro 74. Carlos has become its voice while Montse helps lead the group, organizing tailgates and connecting families across our community for over a decade.

Peter Diaz – A Bay Area native whose love of soccer grew when his kids started playing the beautiful game, Peter will never forget bringing them to their first professional match. Through CEFCU’s longtime partnership with the Earthquakes, he has helped bring the club and our community even closer together over the years.

Tom Hanhauser – An Earthquakes Season Ticket Holder since the 1970s, Tom has followed the club for more than 50 years and multiple eras. His memory bank is a treasure trove, from the NASL days, to the Clash times, to Buck Shaw Stadium and the opening of PayPal Park, where he enjoyed the honor of the first coin toss. At 88, he still attends nearly every home game with his son, John—even cutting a trip to Paris short so he wouldn’t miss his beloved Quakes.

Westin McCall – At seven years old, Westin spent his very first Earthquakes game watching the San Jose Ultras more than the match, thinking one day he would join them. Fifteen years later, that dream has come true. Rain or shine, this supporter sings with the Ultras and is quick to credit the whole group, not any one person for the Supporter Group’s impact on the crowds and the matches.

Bob O’Connor – Bob’s Earthquakes journey started way back in the 1980s on the field—literally. As a member of the Field Crew, that job led him to eat, sleep and breathe Quakes soccer, even to the point of renting a house to one of the players. His favorite memories centered around Chris Wondolowski scoring in clutch situations, with his four-goal performance to break the MLS all-time scoring record at the very top of the list.

William Patterson – Inspired by the United States Men’s National Team’s run at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which was orchestrated by none other than current Earthquakes Sporting Director/Head Coach Bruce Arena, William has been a Season Ticket Holder for 23 consecutive years. Among his treasured memories are traveling to Southern California for the Quakes’ 2003 MLS Cup triumph and helping break ground on PayPal Park. He continues to plan his vacations around the home schedule.

Eric “Player” Perez – A Santa Clara native who always dreamed of working in professional sports, Eric once told a friend at the club that if the Earthquakes ever needed help, he was ready and waiting. That aspiration came to fruition in August 2013, and he’s been a part of the club ever since, from the first soccer game (and sporting event) at Levi’s Stadium to PayPal Park’s opening night.

Dominique Roldan – Dominique’s Earthquakes story began in 2013 at Stanford Stadium, sitting alongside his dad for his first California Clasico and instantly falling in love with the atmosphere. Today, he shares that feeling with thte Quakes community every match day as part of the stadium staff, especially with the Season Ticket Holders in Sections 106 and 107.

John Shelley – Since attending his first Earthquakes game with his own club soccer team back in 1981, John has passionately followed the (now) Black and Blue for more than 40 years. In fact, he was remarkably present for the club’s entire 2003 playoff run, from the famous improbable comeback against the LA Galaxy to capturing MLS Cup No. 2.

Lt. J.J. Vallejo – As a San Jose State freshman, J.J.’s Quakes journey began when he helped sell tickets at Spartan Stadium when the team was known as the Clash. Nearly three decades later, the San Jose native is a lieutenant with the San Jose Police Department, an MLS Soccer Security Agent and a partner for Quakes Foundation community programs like Saturday Night Lights.

Lee Wilcox – A San Jose native, the Quakes have been embedded in Lee’s DNA. In fact, he attended his first game at Spartan Stadium as a seven-month-old infant. Throughout the years, the Quakes have provided him with countless memories, but none topping 2003, when Rodrigo Faria’s golden goal completed the comeback against the LA Galaxy and made Spartan Stadium roar like never before—or since.
