ACADEMY: U-17 and U-14 Girls earn shutout wins on Day 2 of USSDA Showcase

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – During Day 2 of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Spring Showcase, the San Jose Earthquakes U-14 and U-17 Girls’ Academy teams won their matches against Washington Spirit Academy and the Michigan Jaguars, respectively.


RECAP | QUAKES U-14s 

Our U-14s opened up their Spring Showcase with a 2-0 victory over NWSL Academy, Washington Spirit. Quakes forward Alana Owens led the Quakes to victory with her game-winning goal. Although the U-14s will have to wait until next year to get their shot at the USSDA Playoffs, the Spring Showcase serves as the perfect platform for the girls to perform in front of scouts from the nation’s top collegiate programs.

RECAP | QUAKES U-17s 

The U-17s defeated the Michigan Jaguars 2-0 in their first match of the USSDA Spring Showcase thanks to goals from Andrea Kitahata and Kirsten Martin. The Quakes, who are just outside playoff contention, earned valuable points in Colorado. “Yes, this win is important,” said Quakes Girls’ Academy Director Andres Deza. “We did not play to our full potential but we competed hard and got an important three points.” The U-17s will look to secure positive results in the remainder of the Spring Showcase in hopes of making a final push for the playoffs.
