NEWS: Earthquakes to Host Academy Matches at Avaya Stadium as Fundraiser for Lopez Family

Fundraiser Lopez - Avaya Stadium

SAN JOSE, Calif. –
The San Jose Earthquakes will host a fundraiser this Sunday, May 21, for the family of 19-year-old Alejandro Lopez, who passed away last week. Lopez had previously played for several top youth clubs, including the Earthquakes Academy.
To help the Lopez family with medical bills and other expenses, the Quakes will host two academy games at Avaya Stadium on Sunday against the Santa Cruz County Breakers, another of Lopez’s former teams. The Earthquakes are asking each fan in attendance to make a $5 donation to the Lopez family in order to enter the stadium.
The Quakes U-18 academy team will play at 10 a.m., while the U-16 side will play at 12:30 p.m. The two contests will serve as a way to honor and recognize the highly respected young man.
